Changing Times

We have been through several changes this year already. Details can't be discussed at this time on our blog, but one of these days we will be able to divulge. As for now we covet your prayers over all that has taken place and for all the changes that are still ahead. We are very excited to see what becomes of this year in the Hasley Household.

Our Twins...

Bahahaha! I COULD NOT resist. And now a prayer to follow it up that I have learned from experience is necessary...Lord, PLEASE do not let me be speaking something on myself here, AMEN! I have to say I have never seen a two yolk egg before and had to take a picture.

We do seriously have 2 new additions to our household. Actually one has been around for a while, and my forgetfulness has kept him off the blog. He recently acquired a sister. They are known in our house as Dixie and Cash.
Yes, we have a true Louisiana girl on our hands. While out shopping one day Evie discovered an alligator, and we bought it for her. Recently we had to bribe her with a treat to go to the doctor. She HATES the doctor. The treat she asked for was another alligator. How funny is that! She loves Dixie and Cash. Yes she picked the names. Dixie and Cash take baths, get fed, play all the time, and recently became the driver and passenger in brother's horse truck. They have lots of adventures together.

Our other two babies...

I can't believe John Reagan will be 5 in May. He is getting so big, not just in size. He is such his daddy's child. It is funny and scary at the same time. His favorite activity right now (before baseball starts) is to quote the movie "Elf."

And Averi girl will be 6 months old in just 2 weeks. She is such a delight and loves John Reagan and Evie. She sits in the saucer watching every move they make dreaming of the day she joins in. John Reagan and Evie are great about playing with her.

We have been enjoying them and trying to take it all in knowing how quickly it is going. We would love to hear from all of you. Been missing everyone a great deal here lately.

Fashion-ista!

My sweet little Evie Girl!

She has a mind and attitude all her own, which can be quite funny. She likes things VERY MUCH the way she wants them, and this does not stop when it comes to her clothes. If she had it her way ALL the time she would be in jeans and a plain shirt. Of course she has all these cute, fashionable outfits that her Fifi, Nana, and MaeMae have bought her. And Mommy being as stubborn as Evie results in "issues" over the clothing. I know, I know...we mothers are supposed to pick our battles. My motto on this is: When she is old enough to go shopping and pick out ALL of her clothes then this battle will be one less that I fight. That is of course as long as the clothes she picks are modest/appropriate for her age, covering her fully. As long as people are buying her clothes then my philosophy is she has to wear it at least once. Unfortunately this philosophy results in AT-TI-TUDE!

The pictures below are of outfits that pictures became necessary because I didn't think I would get them back on her. I am quite surprised by how many of these pictures she is smiling in.

The pants don't go with the dress, but after church we reached a compromise and traded the tights for the pants. The three things Evie hates: dress, tights, and dress shoes. She had all three on this day for church.

This picture has been thrown in for good measure. Evie's hair is curly in the back and straight on the sides, so we were attempting to roll the sides here. Naturally she didn't leave the rollers in long enough to serve their purpose.

This is her "favorite" shirt and "muddy" boots.

For good measure I had to throw in a picture of my other little fashionista. Isn't she adorable? I am partial of course.

I am hoping I don't have these same problems with little Miss Averi. When I don't think Evie will wear an outfit again I find solace in the fact that hopefully Averi will. How funny!

Frozen Tundra

For all of you Tennessee Folk...

We have been watching in envy as you have had snowfall after snowfall dumped upon you. We know that some of you are pretty sick of it understandably and are ready for warmer weather. And we have to say we are not the least bit shocked that you have gotten more snow than normal either. I mean after all we moved, so the snow felt like it could return in full force. But, we are here to tell you...Be Thankful for the snow! You could be like us and just get drenched with freezing rain that really isn't even frozen. It just makes you cold all the way down to your bones.

Of course they have been calling for snow on and off around here. Our usual response to that has been in full form, "We will believe it when we see it." We do still feel this way after the miraculous snow we received last March. In true fashion snow was predicted for the middle of this last week. They were closing schools around here even before it was raining. In their defense everything freezes around here and you have to deal with ice and ice and more ice. The roads can be very tricky.

I must admit I do love to see bare hardwoods covered in ice. It is a beautiful site. And even though John Reagan repeatedly asks about snow, he has been enjoying breaking the icicles off and eating them. We do make sure they come off clean things...i.e. We don't break them off the house and let him eat roof run-off. Lol!

To get to the point...FINALLY! We woke up to frozen tundra the other morning.

Literally! It was a FROZEN Tundra!
Bahahahahahaha!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my wonderful Mom!

She turned 60 on Saturday! Party planning has been in full swing around our house and my sister's house.

We had pictures up around the house from each of the decades between 1951 and 2001. Since we are so early in 2011 we left that one out. We also had "fact" sheets by the pictures that included little tidbits about things that came out those years, advertisements, prices of items, etc. An example: the sharpie pen was first introduced in 1961. I think my sister had the most fun finding out all of the information in her search. If you are wondering, it's the light shining above her lip that is messing up the picture.
Naturally we had "60s" decorations all over the house. We couldn't let her forget how old she is. When I went to get pictures for her invitations she told me, "Don't be throwing me a party. There is nothing great about turning 60." I thought that was so funny because I had already decided to put on her invitation, "Turning 60 is Great. Please Come Help Us Celebrate!"

We bought a scrapbook for keepsakes from the party, and we decided to put a picture of everyone who came and let them write her a note. Her older sister who lives in Virginia sent a note for her to read aloud. It was about "The Way We Were" and "The Way We Are." Mom had fun reading it and telling the stories from past and present that went along with the note. We sure missed you Aunt Diane.

Mom had lots of help blowing out candles. I couldn't get ALL of the kiddos in the picture from where I was standing.

Then the most fun part of opening presents.
